Who We Are
OASIIS is Asia-Oceania's primary cross-border coordination body for information integrity, bringing together fact-checkers, media, civil society and technology partners.
Oceania-Asia Society for Information Integrity & Safety (OASIIS) aspires to address the complex challenges surrounding internet governance, online safety, and misinformation across one of the world’s most linguistically and culturally diverse region. The idea of establishing a coalition was first discussed among media professionals at the Trusted Media Summit conference in Singapore in 2023, eventually leading to the election of Steering Committee members representing five sub-regions: Central, East, South, and Southeast Asia, as well as the Pacific.
In 2025, we received the ENGAGE grant from the Global Fact Check Fund, administered by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN). Later that year, OASIIS was formally registered as a not-for-profit legal entity (a company limited by guarantee) in Australia.
We operate from hubs in Singapore, Auckland and New Delhi, with programme staff active across the region. Our governance is democratic: the Steering Committee is elected by members and reflects regional diversity.
